Halloween is a big deal in my house. Our neighbourhood organises trick or treating and we round up our nearest and dearest to tag along too. This year we had a spooky BBQ before the kids (and Dads) took off to claim their loot.

The table was decorated with black hessian and above it we suspended a scary, hairy spider. I used a tall black vase and placed dead gardenia branches into this and covered them with cobwebs. We had a jar of eyeballs and pumpkins including two we cut faces into. Gaby from Love to Celebrate was a huge help for decorations. The trick or treaters were treated with homemade cupcakes with orange icing that had gorgeous little cupcake toppers from indilola. I found these awesome bubbles that had little ghosts, pumpkins or frankensteins on top. The little ones loved these.

Costumes were heaps of fun. Harriet had a costume malfunction at the start of the party when her Mummy started to unravel (pardon the pun) and we quickly had to raid the dress up box and turn her into a witch. Alice came as the Pumpkin Queen and Immy was a scary fairy. Max also had a couple of disguises, starting the day as a pirate skeleton and then ending up as a plain old skeleton.

“Trick or Treat, smell my feet, give me something sweet to eat”.
